How it started:
Well this is a simple one to answer! Myself and a couple of friends use a system called IRC and one day in 2007 I decided that we should have somewhere to just quickly host images, as many sites would either have a 404 error, or take too long to load images.
Over time the site began to gain more traffic from other users finding out its a simple hosting script thats fast, that works and thats hosted in Ireland. Over the years I have altered it in many ways due to demand. The main change was the size of the image URL. This was normally very big. However now it is shorter. Other changes are the style and the addition of some "social" connections.
The future.
Well the site seems to grow in traffic from day to day. In 2009 we had roughly 3GBs of tranfer a month. Now we have that in roughly 3 hours. Average traffic per month is 700GBs - Average Daily is 12GBs in reference to other sites, but thats relative to the sites size and useage. We are still quite small. In May 2009 we hosted 3000 images. To date we now host 215,368 images.
How it works
After uploading an image, the website generates a link to your picture. Copy and paste this link anywhere you want, such as a chat client or message board. Just to make it even more easier, we automatically generates the necessary bbcode ([img] [/img]). All you have to do is copy and paste, and the image is instantly viewable.
